The New Gloucester Coffee House presents The Pierce Family

Featuring Dan Pierce, the Dad; Jack (16), Samantha (14), and Tucker (12).

 

The Pierce Family is well known among the bluegrass circle of musicians of Maine. The family has been performing for 6 or 7 years. The youngest member is Tucker at 12, then Samantha 14, and Jack who is 16 and Dan, the Dad, leads the group. They play bluegrass based music that ranges from straight up “bluegrass” to “fiddle music” to “new-grass” to “jazz-grass”. The instruments are: standup bass, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and guitar.

The Made in New Gloucester Furniture Fair

Come early to the Coffee House and celebrate New Gloucester’s Furniture Making Tradition

When:  1:00 to 4:00 pm

Where: in the Community Room of the New Gloucester Congregational Church.

The Made in New Gloucester Furniture Fair will showcase and celebrate the town’s creative economy and furniture making tradition. Featuring a presentation by renowned local craftsman Chris Becksvoort, the event is scheduled for Saturday, May 7th, 1 – 4 pm, at the historic New Gloucester First Congregational-Christian Church Vestry, located at 19 Gloucester Hill Road. Several local furniture makers, including Pat Plourde, Eric Ritter, and Lou Charlett will exhibit their work and discuss their craft. New Gloucester’s original furniture makers, the Sabbathday Lake Shakers, will display pieces from their collection. Enjoy live music, food from local businesses, and a “build your own toolbox” table for the kids. This event is the New Gloucester Economic Development Committee’s second Annual Business Forum.
