Double Header –

Blu Tonic: Local A Cappella Group and

Lousy Cowboy Music: Blues/Jazz/Bluegrass group

The Village Coffeehouse will feature two groups this month. The first half of the Coffeehouse will feature a local a cappella group, the BluTonic. In the second half of the Coffeehouse, the Lousy Cowboy Music, featuring Rhode Island based musician, Dave Moretti, will perform blues, jazz and rhythm/blues.

BluTonic is a newly formed Portland-based mixed voice a cappella group that sings jazz and pop standards with distinctive arrangements. Started as a group of musical friends getting together to see what kinds of sounds they could make, BluTonic has developed a repertoire of tunes with sophisticated tight harmonies and mellow tones. Before forming BluTonic, members of the group – Nath Anderson, Kate Driver, Kim Fox, and Nathan Hagelin – have performed in various a cappella ensembles, choral groups and instrumental bands in genres ranging from classical to bluegrass, which influences the group’s unique sound. BluTonic has performed at small venues and private parties in the Portland area and are excited to make their debut appearance at New Gloucester coffee house with Lousy Cowboy Music. Their show highlights the group’s love for different musical styles — whether crooning a jazz tune or belting out the blues — all the while having a lot of fun.

Lousy Cowboy Music

with Special Guest Dave Moretti

With their diverse musical interests ranging from blues, jazz and old-time, to rhythm and blues and ragtime, each member of Lousy Cowboy Music energizes this acoustic ensemble’s sound. The band’s repertoire includes original songs and instrumentals, arrangements from mountain, swing, gospel and blues traditions, as well as bluegrass adaptations of pop and contemporary music. LCM has performed at music and arts festivals, clubs, taverns and private functions throughout the Northeast.

Dave Moretti is a Rhode Island based singer/songwriter/picker that has been playing the Northeast for decades.  His soulful songwriting combines story-telling, life and times and sentimental journeys backed by polyrhythmic melodies.  Always a favorite at bluegrass and music festivals, Dave has played with hundreds of artists of various genres.

Scott Elliott – mandolin, vocals
